Faye McGreger Howe

The family will welcome visitors for the Visitation and Memorial Service from 2:00 P.M. until 3:45 P.M., on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe before a Graveside Service at 4:00 P.M., where Faye will be laid to rest with Ray in Hasley Cemetery.

Mrs. Faye McGreger Howe passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023, in Ecru, MS., only a short distance from where she was born in Pontotoc County on February 7, 1935.

Faye began working at a young age to put herself through college and graduate school. She met Ray at William Carey University and found purpose and joy teaching for 40 years, including high school Biology. She respected the intelligence of children and served as a model of character and kindness to thousands now serving their communities as adults. Faye served the congregation of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church as a pastor’s wife until her husband’s passing and then as a faithful member until she moved to Mississippi when her health declined. At the assisted living where she resided in her last years, she started a Bible study and attended West Heights Baptist Church with her family. She enjoyed music, flowers, nature, playing card games, and laughter. Faye was a natural hostess and a gatherer of people, and her quiet generosity blessed many inside and outside the churches she attended.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Raymond “Ray” Howe; her parents, Garlin and Ester McGreger; her stepmother, Maudie McGreger; her siblings, Susie, Jan, Jimmy, and Mack and his wife Charlotte; her nephew, Bradley Holcomb; and many wonderful lifelong friends.

She is survived by her sister and friend, Wanda Holcomb; Wanda’s daughters, Laura Beth, and Amanda; daughter-in-law, Lucretia (Bradley) and their families; her sister-in-law, Shirley (Jimmy) and her children, Brian, Tobin, and Jennifer; her nieces, Gayla and Sadie (Mack and Charlotte); and dear friends and caregivers who will miss her greatly.

In lieu of flowers, please make a gift donation to William Carey University in her honor.
