Obituary

Faye Jean Auttonberry Williams was born at home in Clarks, Louisiana on November 1, 1932, and passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. She grew up in Epps, Louisiana in a hardworking farming family, where she learned the value of service, sacrifice, and perseverance at an early age, helping both in the fields and at home. Those experiences shaped the compassionate, selfless woman she would become and laid the foundation for a life centered on faith, family, and caring for others.

Her life was devoted to her family. She was a wife to her beloved husband of 55 years, “Punkin”, whom she adored and loved so faithfully until her passing. She was a selfless mother to her children, Lisa and Mike, an affectionate and revered grandmother to Jeffrey, Stacey, Matthew, and Katie, and a family pillar to her great grandchildren: Tripp, John Wallace, Anders, Luke, Lily, and Merritt, all of whom love her dearly and like their parent’s, adored her and called her Mamaw. She never tired of watching Lily and Merritt dance, delighting in their every performance. She treasured the laughter and antics of John Wallace, Anders, Tripp, and Luke. They all brought her endless joy and kept her smiling.

She expressed her love through home-cooked meals, a warm bed, and an open door. Whether someone stayed for a night or for several months, she welcomed everyone with open arms, making each person feel like family. She had an extraordinary gift for hospitality, effortlessly preparing delicious meals without a recipe and often on a moment’s notice. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.

Faith was the constant that carried her through every season of life. She relied on God for strength, comfort, and guidance, and even as dementia gradually stole many of her memories, it could not take away the faith in her heart. Without fail, she could recite word for word Psalm 23, her favorite bible verse, a beautiful testament to her hope and trust that sustained her throughout her life.

She also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to read, work puzzles, and tend to her flowers. Whether nurturing her garden or caring for those she loved, Mamaw had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Her legacy is one of unwavering faith, generous hospitality, quiet strength, and a love that will continue to live on the family she cherished.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Chalmes Williams; parents, Rance and Lillian Auttonberry; sisters, Laverne Tomlinson and Barbara Shephard; brother, Marvin Auttonberry; granddaughter, Katie Williams.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Trussell (David) and Mike Williams (Sharon); grandchildren, Jeffrey Gordon (Lindsey), Stacey Majure (John), and Matthew Gordon (Christina); great-grandchildren, Tripp Gordon, Luke Gordon, Lily Gordon, John Wallace Majure, Anders Majure, and Merritt Majure; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Gordon, Tripp Gordon, Luke Gordon, Matthew Gordon, John Majure, John Wallace Majure, and Anders Majure.
