Visitation services for Floyce DeEtte Meyer, 90, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 5, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Funeral services will be held at McGuire United Methodist Church with times determined at a later date.

Mrs. Meyer was born November 1, 1932, in Downsville LA and passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Floyce “Flossie” Meyer was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, to two sons, eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  She served in the United States Air Force prior to being a stay-at-home mom to raise her boys and eventually serving as church secretary at McGuire United Methodist Church, from which she retired.  Upon retirement, Floyce enjoyed serving as part of the Glenwood Auxiliary and taking care of her babies in the nursery on Sunday mornings.  She loved the Lord and although her life here on Earth has come to an end, she is now dancing with her Father in Heaven.

The family of Floyce Meyer would like to thank those that cared for and brought so much joy to their mother’s life.  Specifically, they wish to thank Charlene Obriant and Christy.  The staff and residents of Savannah Grand Assisted Living.  The nurses and staff of Landmark Nursing Home and the nurses and staff of Ascend Hospice Care.

“For we live by believing and not by seeing.  Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7-8

She is preceded in death by her father, Talmadge Simpson; mother, Lillie Mae Simpson; husband, Michael Meyer; sister, Mary Jo Fulton; brothers, Talmadge “Red” Simpson, Ervin Simpson, and John Simpson.

Survivors include sons, Michael (Susan) Meyer II and Kevin (Kassi) Meyer; grandson, Michael (Ashley) Meyer III; granddaughters, Amanda (Blake) Barkley, Alaina Meyer, Julia Brotherston, Shaina (Dean) Taylor, Sydney (Nicholas) Kreig and Melissa Meyer; grandson, Dustan (Ashley) Ballance; great-granddaughters, Avery Ballance, Ainsley Ballance, Hazel Kreig, and Poppy Meyer; great-grandsons, Denver Ballance, Austin Taylor, and Gordon Meyer.
