A celebration of life celebrating the life of Gail Elizabeth Turpin, 76, of Calhoun, Louisiana will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 7, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating.
The visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.
Gail was born on March 15, 1950, in Eudora, Arkansas and passed away peacefully at her residence in Calhoun, Louisiana on November 4, 2026.
Gail was a loving and compassionate woman whose kind heart touched the lives of many. She devoted 34 years of her life to nursing, caring for others with the same love and dedication she showed her own family.
Affectionately known as “Granny,” Gail had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved cats and babysitting her daughter’s dogs. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was watching the birds gather at her feeder, especially her favorite cardinals, or relaxing with a good television show or movie. She particularly loved anything starring John Wayne.
Gail grew up in Bakersfield, California, and spent part of her life in Silver Dollar City, New Mexico, before making her home in Calhoun, Louisiana. No matter where life took her, she carried a warm heart and a caring spirit.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Smith Bernard; father, Robert Riley Turpin; and brother, Carl Robert Turpin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristin Brown McMillan and husband, Kerry; son, Ricky Joe Huffty, Jr.; grandchildren, Mason Amadeus McMillan, Justin Louis McMillan, and Dylan Lyn Harrison; special friends who were more like family, Sheila Coburn and Miranda Harrison; nephew, Max Lee Turpin; and nieces, Natalie, Paula, and Amanda Turpin.
Gail will be remembered for her gentle nature, her love for her family, and the countless lives she touched throughout her years. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. And whenever a beautiful red cardinal appears, may it bring a sweet reminder of Granny and the love she leaves behind.
