Geneva Gaye Thornton

A memorial service celebrating the life of Geneva Gaye Thornton will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Thornton was born on December 19, 1934 and passed away on June 01, 2023 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Gaye retired from Riverwood International Paper Company from the accounting department after 20 years of service. She enjoyed working in her yard. Gaye loved her family and she kept everyone in line.

Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her mother, Obie Lee Brown Turnage; father, Dillard Danny Turnage and stepmother, Alma Louise Turnage; sister, Patsy Louise Vallery and brother, Bobby Hugh Turnage.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Gaye is her husband of 69 years, Herschel E. Thornton, Sr.; children, Janis Cobb and husband, Doug and Son, Eugene Thornton; Grandchildren, Eugene DeBeau Thornton (Christy Antley), Brandi Rene' Thornton, Justin Douglas Cobb (Kaitlyn Rhodes), Ginny Lea Cobb; Great Grandchildren, Dylan Kelly, Anna Kelly, Samuel Battaglia, Hayden Cobb and Eli Green; Great Great Grandchild, Emberlynn Peck; Brother, Edwin Turnage and wife, Jackie; Sisters-in-law, Nelda Hendrix, Pamela Thornton; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Brenda Fletcher, Barbara Red, and Geraldine (Jerry) Cloyd.
