George McConaughey Jr.

Graveside service for Mr. George L. McConaughey, Jr., 87, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00PM Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.

Mr. McConaughey was born on February 15, 1936, and passed away on March 25, 2023, in Monroe. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961, where he was a Sergeant and driver for a Colonel in Germany. During his service in the Army, he moved to Monroe, LA in 1954 where he met his wife Barbara Roberts, they soon got married and had 2 sons in which they raised here in Monroe and resided until now.  He was a professional commercial pilot and he went to work with the Monroe Fire Department where he achieved the rank of District Chief. After that he owned Greater Ouachita Aero Corporation.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Barbara Roberts McConaughey; sons, Mark McConaughey of Foley, AL, and Randy McConaughey and wife Kelli; three grandchildren, Dr. Brantlee McConaughey and wife Haley, Taylor McConaughey, and Nolan McConaughey; and great granddaughter, Aria Surratt.
