George Reynolds, Jr., a proud U.S. Marine veteran, successful entrepreneur, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 93. A resident of Monroe, Louisiana, Mr. Reynolds was a well-respected figure in both his community and the oil and gas industry, where he built and led several thriving businesses based in Morgan City, including Atchafalaya Chemical Inc., Atchafalaya Industries, Gem Wire and Sling, and Reynolds Trucking.
Born in 1931, George graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Geology. He served honorably as a U.S. Marine fighter pilot during the Korean War, a time of his life he regarded with great pride and purpose. He was very passionate about golf and fitness and was club favorite.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George Reynolds, Sr. and Euna Hudson Reynolds; his daughter, Ingrid Ann Moses; and his sister, Gertrie Horrell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Usrey Reynolds; daughter Lesley Reynolds Bethea Michael Bethea; stepchildren Debbie Adams McNew, Jeff McNew, Cindy Turner Tannehill, Mike Tannehill, John "Tiger" Turner, and Lori Turner; along with 11 cherished grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road in Monroe on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Chris Winterman officiating.
George Reynolds, Jr. will be remembered for his strong work ethic, devotion to his family, and his legacy of integrity and service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled Veterans of American (www.dav.org).
