Georgie was born on June 24, 1928, and passed away on August 30, 2025, in Monroe. She was a long-time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Georgie moved to Monroe from San Angelo, Texas after marrying the love of her life. She was known as “Mother” or “MawMaw” by her family and friends and was loved by all. A woman of many talents, she taught her children and grandchildren sewing, cooking, gardening, canning, and fishing. Her kitchen was always open to everyone, including her children and grandchildren’s friends. No one ever left hungry. She was a seamstress and worked in the school cafeteria. She was always by her husband’s side, helping him with fencing, gardening, and raising farm animals.
She leaves a legacy of kindness, grace, and love. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, Val and Annie Kozelsky; husband, Robert “Bobby” Pohl; son, Jerry Pohl; twin, Henrietta Franke; daughter-in-law, Cathy Pohl; and several siblings.
Survivors include her children, Bobbie McCarty and husband Bill, Linda Bryan and husband Charles, Ronnie Pohl, Kathy Smith and husband Danny, and Laura Sandifer and husband Kevin; siblings, Anita Schafer and Virginia Klepac; sister-in-law, Sallie Flint; grandchildren, Brad McCarty and wife Jamie, Brock McCarty and wife Kim, Robert Pohl, Derick Pohl and wife Misty, Jennifer Feagen and husband Chip, Charlotte Clark and husband Bryan, Chelsy Benefield and husband David, Casey Barton and wife Danielle, and Griffin Sandifer and wife Heather; 15 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert Pohl, Brad McCarty, Brock McCarty, Derick Pohl, Casey Barton, and David Benefield.
Our family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Ouachita Healthcare and Rehab of Monroe. The staff, nurses, aides, and activity personnel were truly “angels”. We are so appreciative of the daily love and compassion shown to our mother during her stay. Mother made so many friends at the home who became our “extended family”. We also want to thank Allegiance Hospice for their services.
