Gloria Jean Burroughs

Funeral services for Gloria Jean Burroughs, 79, of West Monroe, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, November 23, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.

Gloria Jean Burroughs, or Jean as she was affectionately known, was a true southern Christian lady. She loved and adored her husband “Mickey”, of 59 years, her three children and five grandchildren, her brother and extended family, and her church family at Emmanuel Baptist, where she served as a faithful member for 50 plus years. Jean took pride in having a beautiful yard filled with flowers of all kinds year round, which was kept in pristine condition by both her precious husband and son. She was also a devoted follower of her beloved Neville Tigers and never missed a chance to cheer them on. Jean exuded a Christ-like demeanor, was filled with a sweet genuineness, and was absolutely one of a kind. Her sweet spirit will be forever missed by the countless lives that she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George Edgar and Margie Marie Hammons; father and mother-in-law, J.T. and Mildred Burroughs; and son-in-law, Jimmy Touchet.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Michael Burroughs; children, Lisa Burroughs Dunn, Thomas Michael “Mike” Burroughs, II, and Jill Burroughs Touchet; grandchildren, Jordan Dunn and wife Danielle, Christian Dunn, and their father Butch Dunn; Bailey Burroughs and her mother, Tana Burroughs; Luke and Lilly Touchet; brother, Doyle Hammons and wife Penny; brother-in-law, Barry Burroughs and wife, Susan; sister-in-law, Diane Burroughs Mitchell and husband, Roy; also several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roe Morris, Jimmy Vallery, Roger Johnston, Josh Burroughs, Barry Burroughs, and Herbert Munholland.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John Bradshaw, Preston Allen, and Buddy Bradshaw.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Butch Dunn, Dr. Kerry Anders, and Dr. Larry Olinde.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until service time on Monday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
