Harold Ray Griggs

Graveside Services for Mr. Harold Ray Griggs, 93, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00PM Friday, May 23, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 601 Highway 34 West Monroe, LA 71292, with Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Mr. Griggs passed away on May 12, 2025 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a brief illness. Harold was born on a farm in West Monroe, LA on October 10, 1931 to Charles B. Griggs and Callie Roberts Griggs. He had two sisters, Mable and Louise; three brothers, C.B. (Buddy), Julius and Darrell. Harold graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and later joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. While serving in the Air Force, he was stationed in England where he met his future wife, Janet Martin. Harold and Janet were married in England January 1954. After returning to the United States, their son Michael was born. Harold then attended and graduated from Northeast Louisiana State College. He worked in the school supply business for a number of years and then in 1973, he and Janet opened their own business, Louisiana Teachers Supply, which served a four-state area. Harold was a devout Christian who attended Sunday School and Church while often teaching a Sunday School Class. He and his wife were proud members of Watson Baptist Church in West Monroe. Harold was very friendly and never met a stranger and was also a very generous man.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Janet to whom he was married for 64 years; his parents; sisters and brothers.

Survivors include his son, Michael Ray Griggs and wife Nancy Gilliland Griggs; grandson, Christopher Almond Griggs and wife Samantha Shaw Griggs; great-grandson, Jack Griggs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Watson Baptist Church.
