Bert was born on September 14, 1938, in Natchez, Mississippi and passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Monroe, Louisiana.
Bert to most, NA-NA to many (thanks to his grandkids) was the beloved patriarch of the Wiggins family and a role model and inspiration to us all. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, the oldest brother of six children, Navy veteran, and friend who loved his family fiercely. After high school Bert attended Northwestern State College and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Before his retirement, he worked for the Tennessee Pipeline for thirty-two years. Bert was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, traveling, having a good time, and spending time with his loved ones. He was always very adventurous and even got his Pilot’s License after he retired. Bert was a passionate musician and loved playing the harmonica. He was a man of strength, wisdom, and boundless love surrounded in life and now remembered by all who knew him. Though his presence will be missed, his spirit remains in every story told, in every embrace between those who loved him. A life so full, a family so rich in love. Bert will be missed but never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Lynn Wiggins; parents, Hazen Bert Wiggins, Sr. and Mary Louise Ferrell Wiggins; brother, Butch Wiggins; and sister, Katty Wiggins Williams.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughter, Dana Wiggins; son, Jeff Wiggins and wife, Kerry; grandchildren, Melissa Abercrombie and husband, Joe, Josh Ezell and wife, Brittany, Caroline Wiggins, and Madelyn Wiggins; great grandchildren, Nolan Ezell, Carter Ezell, Addison Darby, and Hazen Abercrombie; siblings, Billy Wiggins and wife, Marti, Brenda Wiggins, and Betty Wiggins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
The pallbearers will be Josh Ezell, Joe Abercrombie, Cameron Wagner, Corey McCormick, Neil Olson, and Fred Freeland.
