A Memorial service for Mrs. Helen Reed Aymond will be held at 11:00AM Friday, August 14, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Helen lived a life filled with laughter, love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family. A vivacious woman with a quick wit and joyful spirit, Helen embraced every season of life with enthusiasm and grace.

While attending Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, she was voted “Most Witty” a distinction that perfectly captured the humor and charm that would remain hallmarks of her character throughout her life.

In 1957, Helen married the love of her life, Gerald Aymond, beginning a partnership built with love and family. Together, they raised four children and created a home filled with warmth and cherished memories. Following Gerald’s passing in 1973, Helen continued to lead her family with strength, determination, and unconditional love.

A woman of deep faith, Helen faithfully served her church community at Baptist Temple in Alexandria, where she taught both Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She also shared her entrepreneurial spirit as co-owner of the poplar Alexandria lunch spot, The Cottage, where she helped create a welcoming gathering place for friends and neighbors.

In 1994, Helen moved to Monroe, Louisiana, where her greatest joy became spending time with her growing family. She lovingly crafted costumes for her grandchildren’s kindergarten classes and designed elaborate medieval costumes not only for her grandchildren but for their friends as well. Her imagination, talent, and generosity brought joy to her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Helen delighted in spending time with her family wherever they were, dividing her visits between grandchildren in Monroe, Louisiana; Westlake, Louisiana; and Corpus Christi, Texas. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or one of her many creative projects, she made every gathering special.

Helen will be remembered for her infectious laughter, quick wit, boundless creativity, deep faith, and fierce love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the countless memories she leaves behind.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Aymond; daughters, Cheryl L. Fetsis and her husband Andreas Fetsis, and Lori K. Riley.

Survivors include her daughter Denise A. Irvin and her husband, Ken Irvin: son, Paul Edward Aymond; grandchildren, Melissa Aymond Walling, Emily Aymond, Jason Fetsis, Pamela Getsis, Alex Fetsis, Michelle Irvin Zeringue and husband Adam Zeringue, and Megan Irvin; many great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
