Funeral services celebrating the life of Henry Dee Salter Solley, 77, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 7th, 2026, at Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ with Rev. John Dobbs and Danny Sullivan officiating. Interment will be held immediately after at Hasley Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.

The visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.

Becky was born on July 14, 1949, in Alexandria, Louisiana, and passed away on August 3, 2026, in West Monroe.

Becky believed that education could change a child's future, and she spent her life proving it. During a career that spanned decades, she taught in the Morehouse, Jefferson, and Lincoln Parishes school systems before teaching multiple grade levels at H.V. Adams Elementary in Bastrop and later at Highland Elementary in West Monroe. There, generations of students proudly became part of the beloved "Solley Sixers," a classroom known for high expectations, encouragement, and a teacher who believed every child could succeed.

Her love of learning led her beyond the classroom. Becky earned a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Louisiana Tech University, completed additional graduate studies in Administration and Supervision, and became a Reading Specialist. She later served with the Louisiana Department of Education as a Regional School Improvement Coordinator and Accountability Coordinator, worked with the ULM Department of Continuing Education, and mentored educators across Louisiana. She also remained active in the Ouachita Retired Teachers Association, serving as president, and served as Louisiana Retired Teachers Association District 10 President and Vice President. Her dedication to education was recognized when she was named a Louisiana PTA Educator of Distinction.

Teaching was never just a career to Becky. Whether she was working with young students, college students, new teachers, or longtime educators, she had a gift for helping people believe in themselves. Her influence continues in the lives of the thousands of students she taught, the teachers she encouraged, and the friends and colleagues who were fortunate enough to know her.

While attending Louisiana Tech University, Becky served as president of Alpha Chi Omega, where she met the love of her life. She and her husband built a marriage that spanned nearly 56 years, creating a home rooted in faith, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.

Of all the roles she filled throughout her life, the ones she treasured most were wife, mother, grandmother, and "YaYa."(Her Bastrop BFFs). She celebrated every milestone, offered steady encouragement through every challenge, and made those around her feel deeply loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she poured into them will remain her most enduring legacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maxa Salter. She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenny Solley of nearly 56 years; her children, Kim, Kasey, and Amy, and their spouses; her grandchildren; and many extended family members, dear friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives were enriched by knowing her.

Those who knew Becky will remember her not only for what she accomplished, but for the kindness she showed, the wisdom she shared, and the genuine interest she took in the lives of others. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, education, and service that will continue for generations. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Larry Solley, Mark Juneau, Hugh Dreher, Benjamin Peters, Danny Sullivan, Byron Henry, and Sean Cangelosi.

Memorial donations are being asked to be sent to Forsyth Avenue Church of Christ Mission fund in Monroe Louisiana.
