Irse Salinas

Irse Jane “Janie” Salinas, a beloved member of the West Monroe community, passed away on December 7, 2023. She was born on August 18, 1944, in Orange, TX. With a kind heart, Janie touched the lives of all who knew her.

Janie dedicated herself to her career at KTVE, where she worked in the traffic department for an impressive fifteen years. Her commitment to her work and her dedication to ensuring the smooth flow of information earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lorena Smith; her husband, Gus Salinas Jr.; her son, James Salinas; and her sister, Jeanette Smith.

While we mourn the loss of Janie, let us also remember the joy she brought into our lives. Her laughter, kindness, and welcoming nature will forever be engraved in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Misty Stokes and Brandy Meredith and her husband, Steven; her grandchildren, Cameron Salinas, Dustin Salinas and his wife, Paige, Steven Meredith Jr. and his wife, Jessica, Baylea Meredith Pohlman and wife, Emily, Mallory Meredith and wife, Abbigail, and Brittany Stokes; her bonus grandkids, Pacey Bradberry and Skylar Bradberry; her great-grandchildren Jackson Meredith and Ellie Meredith; lots of fur babies, Leia, Zoey, Gus, and Gourdon; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In her free time, Janie indulged in her favorite hobbies and interests. Crafting and making jewelry allowed her creative side to flourish, while playing games on her iPad provided her with hours of entertainment. Janie had a fondness for bread and sweets, savoring each bite. However, it was the moments spent with loved ones that brought her the utmost happiness.

Janie was proud to be the previous owner of the "Original" West Monroe Coney Island alongside her husband, Gus Jr. Her dedication and hard work made the restaurant a beloved local institution. Janie brought joy to countless customers.
