Jackie Van Yerger, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on November 15th, 2025 at the age of 78.
She was born on November 19, 1946 in Monroe, Louisiana. She shared numerous adventures with her husband, Captain John E. Yerger, and a life of devotion and service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernie and Mary L. Van; her sister Judy Van, her brother Jeff Van, and niece Jessica Van.
She is survived by her sons Commander Jaesen Yerger (U. S. Navy) and Justen Yerger (Amanda) of Rayville, LA; her grandchildren, Tristan, Jackson, Savannah, Brooks, and Bella Yerger, Adalynn McDow, Annalise Brakefield and Audrey Freeland. Her brother John Van (Lisa), her sister Jan Bower (Charlie), and life long friend Babs Clary; She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends who were blessed by her presence and will carry forward her legacy of kindness, duty and love.
Pallbearers will be Jay Van, Jordan Van, Gabriel Bower, Chip Bower, Cody Eades, and Kenny Johnston . Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Wallace, Brandon Parker, Lee Williams Jr, Michael Bower, Gabriel C. Bower, and Jackson Bower.
Jackie devoted her professional life to serving as a school secretary at JS Clark Magnet School in Monroe, LA where she became a respected fixture in the educational community—always ready with a kind word, an organized file, and a helping hand for students, staff and families alike. In parallel, she stood lovingly at John’s side during his military career in the U.S. Army, providing steady support and managing the home front as the family moved and grew in the service of our nation.
At home and in her community, Jackie was known for her warm hospitality, her devotion to faith and family, and her servant’s heart. She enjoyed fishing, family cookouts, cherished her grandchildren, and created a home where all felt welcomed, cared for, and loved.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 US-165 N Monroe, LA 71203 from 4:00 Pm - 6:00 PM followed by the funeral service on Wednesday November 19, 2025 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 US-165 N Monroe, LA 71203 from 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery located at 2413 US-425 N, Rayville, LA 71269.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Jacklyn Van Yerger Scholarship funding enabling Jackie’s commitment to education.
Jackie’s life stands as a testament to the values of faith, leadership, duty, integrity, stewardship, and sovereignty that she embodied. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all she touched.
