James Christopher was born November 25th 1996 in Shreveport, Louisiana and lived his entire amazing life in Monroe.

He had an incredible capacity to love anybody, any age & any walk of life. He was a bible scholar, profound in his speaking, and filled with Godly wisdom beyond his years. “JC” loved music, especially Christian music. Singing and playing guitar in his church’s praise band was an important part of his life.

He loved his church family and the community of believers he did life with. As a child he memorized scriptures in Bible Drill, sang in the children & youth choirs, practiced guitar, played many sports, and earned a black belt in Taekwondo. He was a diligent student who graduated with honors in high school and was passionate about his studies online with Charis Bible College. He completed all but his internship that he was planning to do this summer in Woodland Park, Colorado. He enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, Branson, Missouri & Disney World. He was a Louisiana sports & outdoorsman, “JC” loved hunting, fishing, archery, skeet shooting and target practicing. Tyner Petrus was his “happy place” as was going to Grandmother’s house. He loved being home with his dogs, and the cat, too, but mostly the dogs. He loved attending and serving at the men’s retreats of Faith Point, First Monroe, First West, & North Monroe. His real joy came from time with his brother, Jon Thomas, and his sisters, Caroline and Elizabeth. He was their role model, mentor, brother and friend, and they all took good care of each other. Family was a priority to him. He loved his buddies & spending time with them. He enjoyed talking about guns & the gospel ! James Christopher was a warrior, tough as nails, who could work through pain and weakness most of us could never imagine. In the midst of his physical struggles, he always ministered to others. It meant a lot to him that over 16,000 people were added to the National Bone Marrow Registry through the drives given in his honor. He hoped it would bring life to those who needed a life saving bone marrow match and give them time to meet Jesus. He was so thankful for the 50 lives that were saved because of the drives.Thank you to all the ICU, CCU, ER nurses and doctors at St Francis Hospital & the Oncology Clinic who showed him such love in recent months. Thank you Dr Shelly McCormick, who has taken care of him his whole life. Thank you to the hundreds of people who prayed for him. There were so many times when medicine could give no hope. We all prayed and he was healed miraculously over and over again. This time, he is fully healed. No more pain and suffering, just joy, light, peace, music, time with loved one’s he has missed, and best of all JESUS. James Christopher was preceded in death by his grandparents Sandy & Jim Draughon, Rush Allums, Jimmy Terry, and his aunt, Elizabeth Terry.
