James "Jimmy"
Wilson, Jr.
August 31, 1964 – May 18, 2026
With loving hearts, we celebrate the special life of James Marshall Wilson Jr. “Jimmy” or best known as PAPA who was born on August 31, 1964 in Shreveport, Louisiana and entered into the presence of the Lord on May 18, 2026.
Jimmy was truly loved by all who knew him for his servant’s heart and calm, gentle nature. He was a friend to all and lived each day as an example of kindness, patience, loyalty, and unconditional love. Jimmy rededicated his life to the Lord in September and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He recently started attending North Monroe Baptist Church with his family and never missed a Sunday. Nothing in the world made him happier than spending time with his family. In his lifetime he has coached countless sports teams; football teams, any teams his daughters played on, and years of softball with his special girl. If Jimmy was not working, you would most likely find him at a softball game or sitting on a softball bucket hitting and pitching with Kinley. Something all 4 of his grandchildren always said about Papa that truly encapsulates who he was is, “Papa NEVER says NO!” He will be remembered for being the one everyone knew they could count on, the best cook at all the family get-togethers, and for his gentle guidance. Though he will be deeply missed, Jimmy’s family and friends are rejoicing knowing that he is in the arms of Jesus.
Jimmy served the Louisiana Department of Public Safety from 1990-2023 as a DOTD weights and standards police officer, DPS officer, DPS sergeant, and DPS region lieutenant. After retiring in 2023, he has been working as DOT manager for TDJ Oilfield Services.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his momma, Nancy Wilson; stepfather, Jazz Wilson; and his father, James Wilson, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Teresa Wilson; daughters, Katie Wilson and Joni Otwell and husband, Gage Otwell; granddaughter,, Kinley Collins; grandchildren, Kemp Wilson, Audrey Otwell, and Graham Otwell; brother, David Glen Wilson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reggie and Virginia Ilgenfritz.
The pallbearers are Tony Gilley, Ed Sawyer, Brad Salter, Dane Massey, Buddy Chandler, and Colby Rice. Honorary Pallbearers are Sloan Wyles, Freddie Blair, Ken Robbins, Scott Parker, Doug Beebe, Breierre Thomas, Danny Avery, and Kyle Brothers.
Funeral Services celebrating the life of Jimmy will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. Lance Otwell officiating. Interment will follow immediately after in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Calhoun, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
