James D. Johnson

James D. Johnson, born on April 27, 1939, in Warren, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in West Monroe, Louisiana. He was a cherished member of the Sterlington Church of Christ, where he found community and connection throughout his life.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorene Johnson; his father, Raymond Johnson; his mother, Opal Johnson; and his brothers, Ray Johnson and Acie Johnson. Their memories were precious to him, and they played significant roles in shaping the man he became.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his son Barry Johnson and daughter Tammie Goedhals. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Beverly Johnson and Carol Johnson, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

The honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Johnson’s nephews.

A funeral service for James will be held at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Don DeLukie officiating. Visitation for James will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Family and friends are encouraged to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable man.
