Obituary

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. James Alvin Meredith, 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, Louisiana with Rev. Roger Stoffer officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana.

The visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service.

James Alvin Meredith, 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana was born on January 29, 1941 and entered into eternal rest on November 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his devoted family. A man of quiet strength and unwavering faith, James lived a life marked by hard work, love, and service.

He was a proud member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and spent over three decades as a professional truck driver with Georgia Pacific, Inc. and Sunbelt Plastics, Inc. His dedication to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family. At home, James found joy in tending his yard, where his care and attention created a place of beauty and peace.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Edna McVay Meredith and Avery “Bud” Meredith; his loving mother who raised him, Lillie Mae Meredith; his son-in-law, Jamie Harris; and his granddaughter, Reagan Nicole Wood.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ophelia “Phel” Meredith, and a large, loving family who will carry his memory forward. His children, Chris Meredith (Nesie), Bart Meredith (Honi), Bruce Meredith, Jamie Meredith (Katie), Bobby Martin (Lisa), Terri Hicks (Gerry), Angela Harris and Kim Meredith; Grandchildren, Kristen Meredith, Jed Meredith (Kendra), Jon Marc Meredith (Britney), Dustin Meredith, Ian Meredith, Noah Meredith, Jonah Meredith, Luke Meredith, Levi Meredith, Zoey Perritt, Sadie Perritt, Hunter Meredith, Christopher Martin (Audery), Logan Martin, Krystle Ivey (Josh), Shane Hicks, and Zach Harris; 10 Great Grandchildren; Siblings; Yvonne Veerkamp (Les), Juantia Cox, and Herman Meredith (Jane); and numerous nieces and nephews. Lap Fur Baby, Carli Jo.

The honorary Pallbearers are his grandsons will honor him as pallbearers, a testament to the legacy of strength and love he instilled in them.

Though James has gone to his heavenly home, his spirit will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren and the faith of his family. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
