Jane Archibald Johnston

Jane Johnston, formerly known as Jane Archibald, born on November 23, 1928, in Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in West Monroe, Louisiana. She was 97 years old.

A dedicated and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Jane’s legacy is marked by her deep commitment to family and education. She began her distinguished career as a school teacher at Calhoun High School in Calhoun, Louisiana, where she nurtured young minds. Subsequently, she taught mathematics at West Monroe High School in West Monroe, Louisiana, before concluding her career in education at River Oaks School in Monroe, Louisiana, following her retirement from the public school system.

Jane was also a proud member of the Louisiana Retired Teacher's Association, which reflected her passion for the educational community and her unwavering dedication to teaching.

Jane is survived by her son, James R. Johnston, and wife Michele; her daughter, Jerri Johnston; and her two grandchildren, James Robert Johnston, III (Trey) and Justin Alexander Johnston. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Johnston, and her parents, Robert and Ruth Archibald.

Jane Johnston will be remembered for her contributions to her family and the countless lives she touched during her remarkable career in education. Her spirit and teachings will live on through her family and all those she influenced throughout her life.
