A graveside service for Mrs. Janie Keene, 84, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, with Rev. William Smith officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Janie Margaret Keene passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Monday, September 21, leaving behind a lifetime of love and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born and raised in humble beginnings in Winnsboro, Louisiana, Janie carried with her the quiet strength, warmth, and graciousness of a true Southern woman. She had a sweet demeanor and a genuine kindness toward others that made people feel welcome and appreciated.

She was married to Gary Joe Keene for 43 years before his passing. Together, they built a life and a home filled with family, traditions, and memories. They were blessed with four children. She endured the heartbreaking loss of three of her sons, carrying that grief with the same quiet strength and love that defined her life.

For 48 years, Janie called the same house in Monroe home. She was a wonderful Southern cook, and preparing food was one of the ways she showed her love. Her cooking brought people together and became part of the family memories that will be treasured for generations.

Janie was a retired bank teller, where her warm personality and dependable nature made her a familiar and friendly face to those she served. Outside of work, she enjoyed spending time with friends, playing dominoes, and enjoying the simple pleasures of good company.

She was a mother, grandmother, friend, and a woman who experienced both great joy and profound heartache. Through it all, she remained gentle, gracious, and kind.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Gary, and her three sons, Glen, Mike, and Bruce.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristie Keene Meno and her husband, Brandon; daughter-in-law, Monique Keene and Ron Daily; grandchildren, Courtnie Keene Bethea and her husband, Adam; Matt Keene; Kelsey Keene Moses and her husband, Tyler; Taylor, Maggie, and Jackson Meno; and great-grandchildren, Auden and Lilah Bethea; Amelia and Phoebe Keene; and Dawson, Peyton, and Preston Moses.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Keene, Tyler Moses, Brandon Meno, Jackson Meno, and Ron Daily.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ouachita Healthcare and Rehab for providing compassionate and dependable care to Janie over the last three years.
