Obituary

On Tuesday, October 14th, 2026, Janis Clarice Pepper Trevillion Hearn went home to be with the Lord. Janis courageously battled renal failure until it was time to meet her Heavenly Father and all those waiting at the gates to greet her. Those who knew Janis knew how strong her faith was and how firmly she believed in God’s promise of eternal life and the peace that comes from being in His presence.

Janis was born on August 1st, 1942, to Clara and Clinton Pepper. She lived most of her life in Central, Louisiana, surrounded by farmland that brought hours of play and her family's livelihood. Janis left home to pursue a bachelor's in education at Northeast Louisiana College. While attending Northeast, she went on a blind date and fell in love with a man named Edward Everett Trevillion III. They went on to graduate and get married.

She poured all she had into her three passions: her faith, her family, and her work. Janis and Edward gave birth to two beautiful girls, Ashleigh Ann and Jana Claire. Janis embodied motherhood in every sense of the word. Her time with Edward was cut short when he passed away in 1987.

Janis spent 28 years teaching and counseling students across Louisiana, ensuring that they left with not just a top-tier education but also having heard about Jesus. She continuously pursued education, ending with her master's +30.

Following the passing of Edward, she trusted in God's plan for her life. In His perfect timing, He blessed her with love again when she married James Russell Hearn Sr. The two spent many years together creating wonderful memories and joining their two families.

Her friends and family hold steadfast in the knowledge that they will see her again one day. 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18

Janis was preceded in death by her parents Clara and Clinton Pepper; her brothers Charles Pepper and Harvey Pepper; her first husband of 23 years, Edward Everett Trevillion III; her second husband of 9 years, James Russell Hearn Sr; and her bonus son James Russell Hearn Jr.

Survivors include: her daughters, Ashleigh Trevillion Collins (Chris) and Jana Trevillion Geiger (Sam); her bonus children David Hearn (Janet), Patricia Hearn Tolar (John) and Lydia Hearn; her grandchildren Hayden Collins (Hailee), Kayley Collins Klingbeil (Seth), Laurel Collins Wright (Matthew), Mahalia Schildwachter Miller (Christopher), Mason Collins, Mallorie Geiger Moody (John), Madison Geiger, Nicole Hearn Creighton (Michael), Russ Hearn, Rachel Hearn Pruitt (Jacob), Natalie Hearn Doss (Richard), Brian Armstrong (LeAnn); her 21 great-grandchildren; her sister Helen Florice “Sis” Payne (Perry); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Janis will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2026 at 11:00AM at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Barnes officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
