Jerry Carol Sikes, 91, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on October 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 26, 1933, to Alex and Olivia Sikes, Jerry grew up in West Monroe, Louisiana, and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, where he was a proud multi-sport athlete. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from Northeast Louisiana University and enjoyed a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry, traveling across the United States and building many lasting friendships along the way.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Jerry served his country with honor before beginning his professional career.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Clara Sikes; his children Sandy Grubbs (Mark) and Alex Sikes (Lyndsey); and his stepchildren Rhonda Carter (Phil), Gary Hibbard (Teresa), and the late Rod Hibbard (Sylvia).
He leaves behind cherished grandchildren Graham Grubbs (Mariana), Caroline Gladney (Logan), Ashleigh, Olivia, and Benjamin Sikes; and great-grandchildren Colton Grubbs, Wrenn Centenno, and baby Gladney on the way. He is also remembered with love by his step-grandchildren and extended family.
Jerry will be remembered for his sharp wit, steady wisdom, and deep love for his family. He lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and enduring faith. His greatest joy was found in time spent with those he loved—especially around the table sharing stories, laughter, and good food. He was a proud member of Faith Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Faith Methodist Church.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Greg Sampognaro and the cardiac care staff at St. Francis Medical Center for their exceptional compassion and care.
