Obituary

Jesse Donald “Butch” Evans, 73, of Sterlington, LA, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, in Sterlington. Born on December 23, 1952, in Urania, LA. Butch was a lifelong resident of Sterlington and a faithful member of Paron Baptist Church.

Butch was a man whose life was defined by his love for the Lord, his family, and the people around him. His quiet, humble spirit reflected a deep and genuine faith that touched the lives of those who knew him. He loved his Lord and Savior above all else and spent his life sharing that love through the way he lived, served, and cared for others.

An outdoorsman at heart, Butch found great joy in nature, hunting, and fishing. He and his beloved wife took pride in working in their yard on the bayou. He spent 42 years with IMC/Koch Nitrogen in Sterlington before retiring. Above all, however, he cherished his family and the time spent with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Henry and Eva Williams Ates, and Albert and Bell Lowe Evans; his parents, Delbert and Bobbie Lee Ates Evans; his brother, Eddie Evans; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.C. Fair and Vonda Lewis Fair.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Jackie Fair Evans; his children, Jennifer Evans Sturdivant and husband Chris, Olivia Evans Jones and husband David, and Joshua Evans and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Loralee Sturdivant, Jackson Sturdivant, Joleigh Evans, Nathanial Jones, Landrie Evans, Tucker Sturdivant, Brighton Jones, Sage Pipes and husband Hank, and Abbi Hanks; and his special aunt, Gwile Ates Cox and husband Billy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Paron Baptist Church in Sterlington, with Brother Micky Manning and Brother J.R. Wells officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church and continue until service time. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 P.M. at Urania Cemetery in Urania, LA.

Pallbearers will be Richard Moore, Hank Snell, John Calvin Franklin, John Jones, John Sharp, and Buddy Womble.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paron Baptist Church in Sterlington, LA.

Butch leaves behind a legacy of faith, humility, love and devotion that will continue to live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he will be deeply missed, his loved ones can find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he faithfully loved and served.
