Private Funeral Services for Mr. John David Herren, 68, of Monroe, LA, were held in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe. Private Interment followed the services.
Mr. Herren was born September 10, 1956, in Greenville, MS, to the union of Julian and Nell Herren. He passed away after a difficult battle with cancer on September 16, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA. John was a devout Christian and avid fisherman. He loved the outdoors and shared that love with his grandchildren at the hunting camp. John dedicated over 45 years of service as an environmental engineer with multiple different companies. He dedicated the last 14 years of his career to Graphic Packaging.
John blessed so many lives. To know “Papa” was to love him. He never met a stranger, and everyone was always welcomed. Every child that crossed paths with Papa, gained an extra cheerleader, friend, and loving smile to turn to see in the stands supporting them. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, all the adopted grandchildren he took in through the years, and his daughter who took care of him in his last days.
His battle here on earth was difficult these last few months; physically, emotionally, and mentally, but he gained the ultimate victory. We know he is rejoicing with the Lord, and free of the stress and pain that was brought on to add to his already difficult battle in the last month.
Left to cherish his memory are his only child, Alexandra Herren Jones and her fiancé, Bryan Marshall; his grandchildren, Leland Herren, Acen Bretton, Aisley Bretton, and Kadyn Marshall; siblings, Charles Herren (Diane) and Monica Flowers; nieces, Michelle Busby, Brooke McCain, and Julie Flowers; one nephew, Chad Hutchinson; numerous great nieces and nephews and special friends.
Pallbearers were Leland Herren, Kadyn Marshall, Jesse Johnson, Julian Crenshaw, Ben Askew, and Steven Alan Freeland.
Our family would like to thank the close family and special friends who stepped up to help with his care and wishes in his final days on earth; ensuring he was safe, loved, and had a peaceful environment. A special thank you to Pinnacle Hospice for the dedication, compassion and support they have provided for our family during the final stages of Papa’s battle.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
