John Erwin Smith

Funeral services celebrating the life of John Erwin Smith, 77, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.

Mr. John was born on August 12, 1947, in Carey, Mississippi and passed away on May 18, 2025, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Before retirement he worked as a machinist and welder, where he gave many years of dedicated service. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Louisiana Sportsman’s Hunting Club.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo Teasley Smith; son, John Clay Smith; brother, Ray Smith; mother, Hazel Smith; and father, Wilbur “Bill” Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tammy J. Brown and husband, David, Stacy L. Richie and husband, Tommy, and Linda K. Nelson; grandchildren, Johnathon D. Roach, Jessica M. Harrell and husband, Slade, Amber C. Lofton and husband, Matt, and Jatuanna A. Nelson; and great grandchildren, Allison Harrell, Amelia Harrell, and Ja’Khyla Nelson.
