Memorial services for Mr. John Alan Gallagher, 73, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Eckhardt and Dr. Bill Dye officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until service time at the church.

Mr. Gallagher was born April 2, 1950, in Colorado, and passed away December 19, 2023, in Monroe, LA.

Mr. Gallagher was preceded by his parents, John and Ruby Gallagher.

John " Alan " Gallagher was a son of a military family, John and Ruby Gallagher. They traveled around and lived in many places but settled in West Monroe, where Alan grew up. He graduated from West Monroe high school in 1968, then graduated with a degree in business from Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana Monroe. He continued his education all his life. He is a lifelong learner and reader and researcher, and always had a project, either for himself or someone in the community.

Alan loved building projects, fixing things and sometimes technology. He was constantly designing new technology and new software, and securing our government 's databases as well as corporate, and small business servers.  He was paid to be a "Good Hacker" and he was very excited about the upcoming A.I. opportunities for not only technology but also healthcare, as well as political adventures and just assisting your general everyday life.

Alan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2022 and he survived, pancreatic cancer, but ended up with a bowel obstruction and passed away very calmly, peacefully in his home, with Onna, and we think it was probably a heart attack due to many extenuating circumstances after being in the hospital.

He will also be remembered as a wonderful "papa" and "Barbie fixer" to two little girls, his granddaughters.

Additionally, Alan was known for being a great cook, hosting and entertaining people in his and Onna’s home, and having a servant's heart.

Alan and our family would be so honored by your presence here to honor him by coming together over food, family and friends at our wonderful church and we are so grateful to North Monroe Baptist Church for being there with us and hosting this celebration. We are thankful for the TV ministry because it is meant the world to us to have our television on Sunday morning to be able to listen to Bill sermons and learn from them. We thank our community for every outreach and outpouring of love. Continue to pray for the family, for Meghan, Bonnie, Blake, Hope, Heath and their girls, Landry and Marienne, and Onna.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We pray that Alan's life is a testimony of goodness and kindness.  And so now, go out and share God‘s love and be Jesus‘s hands and feet.  Love unconditionally and serve someone.

Survivors include his wife, Onna Gallagher; daughters, Meghan Gallagher, Bonnie Gallagher, and Hope Frugé (Heath); son, Blake Anderson; and granddaughters, Landry Frugé and Marienne Frugé.
