Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. John Raymond Osterland, 86, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday July 12, 2026, at North Monroe Baptist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Mr. Osterland went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2026, at University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA surrounded by family.

Ray was a longtime member of North Monroe Baptist Church. He attended LSU then started his career with LP&L. He later retired from Ford, Bacon, and Davis Engineering firm after almost 50 years of service. He loved the outdoors whether fishing, hunting or just being outside. He also loved spending time with his girls and grandchildren. His favorite past time was duck hunting and fishing with his family and many friends. He was also a superfan and loved watching the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints play football.

He was the fisherman of the Year in the Ouachita Parish Bass Club in 1971. He finished 1st place in the Top Six Bayou Bass Masters in 1972. He was the fisherman of the year in the North Louisiana Bass Association in 1984.

Survivors include two daughters, Jana Lea Osterland Norton and husband, Mark and Tracy Ann Osterland Hanson and husband, D.J.; grandchildren, Cole Norton, Madison Hill and husband, Devin, and Morgan Daniel, and fiancé Darian Houston; great grandson, Bridges Hill; niece, Robin Velander and nephew, Thomas Yantis.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Reagan Dumas, Steve Tolson, Kenny Cagle, Chuck Poole, Pat Stewart, Herman Ledet, as well as members of the “Old Duck Hunters Group” and the “Fish Fry Group.” For the past 10 years, these special friends provided invaluable support and companionship, helping to ease the grieving process following the passing of Bobbie Rose. Their kindness, friendship, and steadfast presence during that difficult time were deeply appreciated.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wyatt, Devin Hill, D.J. Hanson, Cole Norton, Mark Norton, and Thomas Yantis.

We are also very grateful and appreciative for his caregivers, Eyvette Brown, Londa Cole, Yasmine Coleman, Herbie Darrington and Emma Moore.
