Funeral services for Joyce Brake, 84, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 23, 2016 at College Place Baptist Church. A reception will follow the service to celebrate and remember Mrs. Brake, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA

Mrs. Brake died Saturday, December 3, 2016 in Sugar Land, Texas.

Mrs. Brake was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy E. Brake, Sr; her parents, Pearl and Ernest Matheney of Jackson, Tennessee; and five sisters all of Tennessee.

Survivors include her children, Donna Brake Meece and Roy E. Brake, Jr; son-in-law, Greg Meece; daughter-in-law, Betty Brake; brother, Cloyce Matheney of Jackson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Abby Brake of Chicago, Ill., Megan Brake Shearer of Merrillville, IN, Meredith Meece Bateman, Matthew Meece of Sugar Land, Texas and Kayla Brake of Detroit, MI; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Shane Shearer.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to their church family of College Place Baptist Church for the continuous love and support of Mrs. Brake. The church was her home and she dreamed of coming home to live.
