Joyce King

Funeral Services for Mrs. Joyce King, 78, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Joyce King was born December 9, 1943, in Dunn, LA, and passed away October 7, 2022, in West Monroe, LA.

Joyce graduated from Holly Ridge High School and attended Northeast Louisiana State College.  She worked as a telephone operator, personal bookkeeper, worked at Weil Dry Cleaners & as an activity director at 2 nursing facilities.  As a grandmother she loved going on field trips with her grandchildren, took care of them when they were sick and loved to attend their activities & school functions. A few of her greatest attributes that our family will remember her for is that she sent cards for everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, and special occasions for as long as we all remember. She also coordinated our Taunton Family Reunions for many, many years which everyone so enjoyed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Lela Taunton; husband, Claude Lester King; brothers, Albert Shelton Taunton (infant), Edward “Sonny” Laverne Taunton, Charles Taunton, and Wendall Wayne Taunton; and sisters, Norma Lee Miller, Agnus Marie Williams, Eloise Walker, Frances Carter, Thelma Haywood, Fay Maurine Melville, and Patricia Fern Odom.

Survivors include her brother, Billy Joe Taunton; son, Mark King and wife Terie; daughter, Margie King Robinson and husband Chris; grandchildren, Cade Robinson, Jake Robinson, Dannion King and wife Jordan, Kassidy King, Brodie King, and Rebekah King; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brodie King, Cade Robinson, Jake Robinson, Brandon Wilder, and Jonathan Brewer.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 10, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
