Obituary

Funeral services celebrating the life of Juanita Fortenberry, 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 24th, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. Danny McIlveene officiating. Interment will be privately held for the family at Hasley Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

The visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.

Juanita was born on September 27th, 1941, in Elizabeth, Louisiana and passed away at her residence in West Monroe, Louisiana on August 19th, 2026.

Juanita lived her life with quiet strength and a heart devoted to caring for others. A lifelong bookkeeper, a devoted caregiver, and the steady center of her family, she carried each role with grace. She was a mother, a wife, a grandmother, and so much more to everyone, blessed to know her.

Her greatest gift was creating a place of belonging. Her home was a refuge for the lost, a soft landing for the weary, and a space where love was offered freely and without condition. She nurtured generations, kept people close, and held families together not just with her hands, but with her heart.

Juanita spent her life giving often quietly, never seeking recognition. She kept the books, but more importantly, she kept people connected. Her love left an imprint on everyone who had the privilege of being welcomed into her home and her life.

Her legacy lives not only in the years she spent on this earth, but in the lives she shaped, the people she cared for, and the sense of home she created in the hearts of those who will carry her memory forward.

She is preceded in death by her daughters, Dixie Ann Fortenberry and Robin Fortenbery Haley; mother, Helen Willis Sykes; and husband, Thomas E. Fortenberry.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her son, Roy E. Fortenberry; daughters, Teresa Green and Tanya F. Alexander (Mark); grandchildren, Malea Smith, Martin Green. Erica G. Musgrove, Zachary Alexander, and Ian Alexander; great grandchildren, James McKnight, Cooper Green, Sidney Morgan, Raelyn Morgan, and Stevie Ray Morgan; as well as many loved ones and friends.

The pallbearers will be Ken Green, Martin Green, Zachary Alexander, Ian Alexander, James McKnight, and Ryan McKnight.

She was home to many. And though we can no longer walk through her door, the love she gave remains a place we can return to.
