A memorial service celebrating the life and legacy of Judith Lee Arbogast Wood, RN,91, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 4, 2025 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
She was born on October 16, 1933, in Brookings, South Dakota and passed away peacefully at home after a home hospice stay with her daughter and son-in-law in West Monroe, Louisiana on September 21, 2025.
Judith was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and devoted Registered Nurse. During childhood, she moved to Stuart, Florida. She was graduated at Martin County High School in 1951. Later, she earned a Diploma in Nursing at Alachua General Hospital in 1954. She was a resident of Auburn, Alabama for over fifty years. As a nurse, she was the head OBGYN nurse at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. During her long career, she consistently earned the trust, respect, and friendship of not only of fellow nurses but also of physicians. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over sixty years, Paul A. Wood, PH.D.; and her sister, Janice Arbogast Clark.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her two sons, Leland “Charlie” Wood and Brian M. Wood and wife, Heather; two daughters, Wendy Wood Smith and Paula Wood Brown, PH.D. and husband, Ralph; grandchildren, Tristan Wood, Natasha Wood Ellis and husband, Kevin, Taylor Matthew Wood, Samuel Wood, Keenan Wood, Tia Wood, Nicholas Wood, Nadia Wood, Jack Wood, Zoe Brown and husband, Russ Deloach, Ashby Brown, Paul Smith, Rachel Smith, Sabrina Wood Owens and husband, Joe, Hamish Wood, and Cameron Wood.
Judith will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her intelligence, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and heard. Judith’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the values she instilled.
