Obituary

Kathy Joy Moore, 69, of West Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her immediate family.

A Celebration of Life for Kathy will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until service time on Saturday.

Kathy dedicated 40 years of service to the State of Louisiana. Throughout her career, she worked for the Health Unit, the Department of Environmental Quality, and completed her years of service with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and the kindness she showed to everyone she encountered.

More than anything, Kathy loved her family and friends. They were truly her whole world. Over the years, she formed countless friendships through every stage and facet of life, cherishing each and every one deeply. Kathy had a special gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and valued, and her friendships remained close and meaningful throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering loyalty, laughter, and the genuine care she gave so freely to others. Kathy’s presence brought comfort and joy to those around her, and the memories she created with family and friends will forever be treasured.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Arlon Moore; her sister, Judy Sikes; and her brother, Jimmy Moore.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Moore Purcell; nieces Jennifer Purcell Adams (Jason), Andrea Sikes Jameson (Roy), Lisa Sikes, and Julia Estis; nephews, Steven Sikes and Jake Estis; and a cousin who was like a sister to her, Janice Wyatt. Kathy also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews whom she cherished. In addition, she was blessed with too many friends who were like family to even count.

Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and dedication that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family appreciates the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the numerous nurses and doctors who have helped Kathy during this time, as well as the amazing staff at The Carpenter House in Shreveport, LA.
