Obituary

“

Together, they built a life filled with shared experiences, lasting memories, and a love of traveling the world.

Kevin Edmund Dwyer, 74, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 8, 2026, following a brief hospitalization.

Kevin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Louis Stephen Dwyer and Melba Bacon Dwyer. One of six children, Kevin grew up alongside his siblings Kay, Karen, Kenneth (Ace), Kerri, and Kim. During his childhood, he developed a love for baseball, with his father serving as his coach. He was also actively involved in the Boy Scouts, proudly earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Kevin was an avid swimmer and spent time working as a lifeguard.

In 1956, the Dwyer family moved to McComb, Mississippi, where Kevin attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Grammar School. He graduated from McComb High School in 1970 before continuing his education at the University of New Orleans, where he graduated in 1974. Kevin went on to enjoy a long and successful career in the mortgage industry, building not only a professional legacy but also friendships that would last a lifetime.

Kevin shared 22 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Cynthia (Cindy) Dwyer. Together, they built a life filled with shared experiences, lasting memories, and a love of traveling the world. Whether exploring new destinations or simply enjoying time together, they treasured the experiences they shared.

Being present for the people he loved was simply part of who he was.

As a father, Kevin was always present and involved in Lauren's life. He coached many of her sports teams, and the two could often be found practicing softball in the backyard. Some of Lauren's fondest memories are of the simple moments they shared trips to the golf course, rides to the convenience store for Icees, and fishing adventures during which she may have accidentally hooked her father on more than one occasion. Lauren also frequently accompanied her dad to work on weekends, where Saturday mornings meant cartoons in the boardroom, chocolate milk and donuts, and drawing pictures for Kevin's coworkers and friends. These moments, filled with laughter, patience, and love, became memories she will treasure forever.

Kevin carried that same love and devotion into his role as a grandfather. Affectionately known as Pop Pop, he rarely missed a Grandparents' Day, school program, or sporting event involving his two beloved grandchildren, Lennon and Andrew. Being present for the people he loved was simply part of who he was. A recent Disney cruise with Pop Pop and Nana created memories that will be cherished for years to come, especially the sight of them dressing up and joining in the Pirate Night festivities.

Kevin was hardworking throughout his life and rarely one to sit still. When he wasn't at the office, he could often be found working in the yard, gardening, or tackling his latest DIY project. He always seemed to have a plan or something in the works. He also enjoyed traveling with Cindy, particularly to the beach, where he was perfectly content sitting in the sand with his feet in the water. A devoted fan of LSU football and the New Orleans Saints, Kevin enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams.

Kevin's dedication extended beyond his family and career into his church and community. He participated in Habitat for Humanity and was deeply involved in Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he previously served as a Eucharistic Minister. Kevin and Cindy were also dedicated to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, with Kevin serving as president of the Monroe Council at one time. Through his faith and service, he gave generously of his time to causes and people who mattered to him.

Family remained an important part of Kevin's life. Throughout the years, his family grew through marriage and the relationships he built along the way. He shared his daughter, Lauren, with his former wife, Kathy Roscoe, and also played an important role in the lives of his stepdaughters, Ashley and Jennifer Yeager.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Stephen Dwyer and Melba Bacon Dwyer, and his brother, Kenneth Stephen Dwyer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cindy Beaubouef Dwyer; his daughter, Lauren Brown, and her husband, Chase, and their children, Lennon Katherine Brown and Andrew Dwyer Brown; his sisters, Kay Sheldon (Curt) of Chattanooga, TN; Karen Hulett (Bill) of Madison, MS; his sister-in-law, Laurence Dwyer, wife of his late brother Kenneth Stephen Dwyer of Greensboro, NC; Kerri Battaglia (Sam) of Kenner, LA; and Kim Cason (Kyle) of Metairie, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kevin’s legacy will live on not only through the family he loved so dearly, but also through the friendships he nurtured, the lives he touched, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Inurnment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.
