Obituary

A Celebration of life for Kevin Justin McCurdy, 65, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Cowboy Church at the O.K. Corral with Rev. Waylan Piercy officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of service on Saturday at the church.

Justin lived his life the only way he knew how wide open, honest, and with the spirit of a true cowboy. From the time he could walk, he was roping, riding, and chasing the kind of adventures most folks only hear about. He had a gift with bulls and horses, buying and selling them with an eye that couldn’t be taught. He rode horses checking on cows through the mountains like it was the most natural thing in the world, always happiest with dust on his boots and the wind at his back.

He was a man who found joy in the simple things: mud digging after a good rain, a hot cup of coffee sipped slow on the porch, and long days hunting with dogs by his side. When the sun went down, you could bet he’d be the first one on the dance floor, moving with the same easy confidence he carried everywhere he went.

Justin’s accomplishments in the arena were as impressive as the man himself. He was an American Quarter Horse Association Champion in 1995 and 1996, and a 1994 Reserve World Champion in Team Penning . These were achievements he earned through grit, talent, and a love for the sport that never faded.

He never met a stranger. Justin had a way of making everyone feel welcome, seen, and valued. His heart was big, his laugh unforgettable, and his kindness steady as the sunrise. He loved fiercely and fully, and those who knew him were better for it.

And of course, he had a special place in his heart for his 1978 Ford F-150 Luther. That truck carried him through countless miles, memories, and stories that will be told for years to come.

Justin leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and the kind of cowboy spirit that doesn’t fade. He will be missed more than words can say, but his memory will ride on in every life he touched.

He is preceded in death by his parents, O.K. and Martha McCurdy.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his children, Jillian Patrick and her husband, Stanley and Tyler McCurdy and wife, Kenzie; grandchildren, Addison Patrick, Jensen Patrick, Demie McCurdy, Dally-Kate McCurdy, Pistol McCurdy, and Jenna McCurdy; siblings, Kelly McCurdy Cummings and husband, Billy, Stacy McCurdy and wife, Jodie, Wess McCurdy and wife, Jessica; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, and special friends.

The honorary pallbearers will be all of his special friends.

Memorials in memory of Justin may be made to The Cowboy Church at the O.K. Corral for the new arena.
