Obituary

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of Lannie Johnson, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on April 23, 1937, to Lannie "Red" and Viola "Vi" McManus, Lannie was the oldest of six children. She was raised in Franklin Parish, Louisiana, and married Arvil Ray Johnson at age 16. Together they raised five children. She later retired from a career as an in-home caregiver, a profession she dearly loved.

Lannie was dependable, compassionate, and encouraging. She loved spending time with family and friends and attending Bible study at her assisted living facility with Park Baptist Church. Even after she lost the ability to communicate, she would still smile and nod when she heard the name "Jesus."

She is survived by her children, Duwan Johnson (Sherry), Darold Johnson (Lynn), and Gwendolyn Tyree (Larry); ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bo McManus (Gladys) of Gonzales, Louisiana, Elaine Parker and Denise Spruill, both of Gilbert, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Viola McManus; her husband, Arvil Johnson; her children, Gregory Ray Johnson and Belinda Sheri Johnson; her sisters, Shirley Johnson (Nathan) and Bobbye Gail McManus Currington (Billy); her brother-in-law and friend, Ronald Johnson; and her daughter-in-law, Terri Johnson.

While we grieve our loss, we also rejoice in knowing she now walks in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, followed by the funeral at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Larry Linson officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Wisner.
