LaVerne Humphries DeCelle

December 20, 1923 — November 7, 2021

LaVerne Humphries DeCelle, 97, is celebrating her Heavenly home today surrounded by loved ones. She completed her time on earth and entered her eternal Heavenly home on November 7, 2021.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, November 20, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Kurt Auger officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

She was born December 20, 1923, to Terry and Cornelia Humphries and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Louis L. DeCelle, Jr.; her parents; two brothers, Terry Lamar Humphries, and James Arvel Humphries.

She was a professional photographer at Larry Robinson Studios in Monroe, LA, for many years before moving to Farmerville and becoming a bookkeeper for their business. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Farmerville, where she served in several areas, before becoming homebound for health reasons. Being a thoughtful, giving person, she began a card ministry from her home, sending cards and notes to many people for various occasions. She loved to talk and visit with anyone who stopped by. She was a dedicated prayer warrior you could depend on as well. She will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Jerry Lamar DeCelle and wife Mary of Bernice, Rebecca D. Morris of West Monroe, and Darryl Louis DeCelle and wife Sandra of Calhoun; eleven grandchildren, Dax DeCelle, Danielle Voumard, Christopher Guice, Kendall Guice, Kasey Guice, Kelly Pepper, Brandi Hinton, Kelsey DeCelle, Stephanie Spain, Crystal Matte, Amanda Halley, and their spouses; plus seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter on the way; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dax DeCelle, Chris Guice, Kendall Guice, Kasey Guice, Ryan Voumard, and Steven Hinton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen Spain, Brad Matte, Jacob Halley, and Heath Hinton.

Mother believed in supporting missions and sharing God’s Word, so she requested any monetary gifts be sent to a mission of your choice.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Ridgecrest Community Care Center of West Monroe and their staff for the excellent care given to Mrs. DeCelle.

Her parting words were “God bless you one and all!”
