Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Lela Myrtle McCowin, 92, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 02, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Rev. Keith Jeselink officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery in Oak Ridge, LA

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time.

Mrs. McCowin died November 26, 2025, at the Azalea Estates in Monroe, LA

Mrs. McCowin was a member of the Horseshoe Baptist Church, where she served as Music Director for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren playing different games. She loved it when her grandchildren came to spend time with her in the summers, teaching them about flowers, gardening, and shelling purple hull peas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McCowin: her son, Bobby McCowin; brothers, Thomas, Robert and Dewey White; and her sister, Gladys Keyes.

Survivors: Daughters, Jettie Stanley; Beth Lively (Beau), Robbie Hawsey (Andy); Daughter-in-law, Rita McCowin; Brother, Larry White (Mary Ann); 13 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lance Hurt, Harrison Hurt, Christian Glawson, Blake McCowin, Zane Klein, and Lance Klein. Honorary pallbearers will be Briggs Hurt, Don White, Noah Glawson, Caleb Wallace, Reid Hurt, and Danny Keyes.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Cancer Foundation League.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Azalea Estates Assisted Living, all the staff, and her precious friends for the care shown to our mother. Especially to Jeanette Brown for her friendship.
