IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lena George
Eads
October 13, 1936 – February 5, 2026
Lena George Eads, 89, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, following a lengthy illness.
Born on October 13, 1936, in West Monroe, Lena was a lifelong resident of Ouachita Parish. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Powell George and Effie Smith George, and sister of the late Kenneth George. Lena attended West Monroe High School, graduating with the Class of 1954, and went on to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Education from the former Northeast Louisiana State College, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Eads demonstrated dedication, skill, and professionalism in every endeavor she undertook. She held several business positions before retiring as an Executive Assistant with ANGUS Chemical Company in Sterlington, Louisiana. Her diligence, integrity, and kindness left a deep impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Mrs. Eads married the love of her life, James W. Eads, Jr., and together they shared 39 years of devotion, laughter, and family. She is survived by her husband, James; her daughter, Janet Culp Sachrison and husband Steve; her son, David Alan Culp and husband Mark Windham; and her cherished grandchildren—Joseph William Meade and wife Megan, Harrison Maxey, Jonathan Maxey, Kyle Sachrison, and Paige Renee Sachrison Burroughs and husband Dalton. Lena’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Noah Meade, Layla Maxey, Peyton Maxey, and Hadison Maxey.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Culp Fox, whose memory she held dear throughout her life.
Lena’s greatest joys came from her faith, her family, and the simple pleasures of everyday life. She was known for her warmth, gracious spirit, and resilience. Over the years, she exhibited her varied talents through painting, ceramics, sewing, baking holiday treats and decorating wedding cakes, growing flowers, herbs, and plants, and even infusing her own olive oil with herbs from her garden.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many physicians and medical professionals who cared for Lena with exceptional compassion over the years, and especially during her final days.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or honoraria, friends are encouraged to contribute to a charity or church of their choice in Lena’s memory.
Her life was one of quiet strength, love, and faith — a beautiful example of grace that will long live in the hearts of all who knew her.
