Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Eugene Carlton, 78, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Phillip Bedenbender and Stanton Groan officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe.
Mr. Carlton was a deacon at Camp Road Church and was a member of the Who’s Who in Louisiana. He is preceded in death by six sisters; one brother; and his first wife, Kathryn Eppinette Carlton.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Germany Carlton; children, Kathryn Jean Poland, Susan Gail Groan, and Paul Leonard Carlton; sister, Laverne Griffith; extended family, Grace Germany Kirksey, Stephen Germany, and Enoch Germany; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be William Poland, Stanton Groan, Lt. William Poland, III, Johnathan Groan, James Poland, and Victor Cheeks.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 1, 2008 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Memorials may be made to Camp Road Church, West Monroe.
