Mrs. Linda was born on December 11, 1947, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on February 3, 2026, in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Linda’s life was beautifully centered around the people she cherished most especially her grandchildren. Nothing brought her more happiness than watching them grow, shine, and chase their dreams. Whether she was sitting in the bleachers at a ballgame or cheering from the sidelines at a competition, she was always their loudest supporter and their proudest fan.
To her family and to everyone who knew her, she wasn’t just a grandmother she was a Cheer Nana and Baseball Nana. She wore those titles with joy, showing up with a smile, a warm hug, and a heart full of encouragement. Her presence made every game sweeter and every moment brighter.
Her grandchildren were truly the lights of her life, and she poured her love into them with unwavering devotion. Linda leaves behind a legacy of kindness, enthusiasm, and a spirit that celebrated every victory, big or small.
Linda also treasured the friendships that colored her life with fun and adventure. She loved traveling with her friends, especially going on cruises where she could relax, explore, and enjoy the world around her. Some of her happiest moments were spent gathered around a table playing Pokeno, laughing, sharing stories, and making memories that will be cherished forever.
Professionally, Linda dedicated many years to Chase Bank. Her work reflected her character: steady, dependable, and always willing to help others find their way forward.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. As a devoted member of Community Baptist Church, she found joy in worship, fellowship, and serving alongside her church family. Her gentle spirit and warm presence touched countless lives both inside and outside the church walls.
She is preceded in death by her father, Talmage Wade Powell; mother, Louise Hall Powell; sister, Joy Powell; grandmother, Ida Turnige; and grandson, Jacob Jackson.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Walter Hawsey; daughter, Tiffany Jackson and husband, Kevin; son, Barry Hawsey and wife, Leah; sister, Joan Thompson; grandchildren, Trey Hawsey, Carson Hawsey, and Peyton Jackson.
The pallbearers will be Charles Tilley, Mike Mullins, Jon Smiley, Gordon Kindrix, Randy Tyler, and Gary Smith.
Her family will forever remember her laughter, her support, and the way she made each child feel like the most important person in the world. Though she will be deeply missed, her love continues in every cheer, every swing of the bat, and every memory shared by those she adored.
