Lottie Gates Ray

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Lottie Gates Ray, 75, of Downsville, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Point Assembly of God Church in Point, LA, with Rev. Louis Bartet officiating. Interment will follow in Acree Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Lottie was born May 7, 1948, in West Monroe, LA, and passed away November 26, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Ray retired as a bookkeeper after many years serving the community. She was a caretaker with a passion for taking care of her family and friends, and even at her age taking care of younger residents at the Ouachita Grand Plaza. Lottie was a true gift to all that had the privilege of knowing her. She was the most selfless person and loved helping others. She had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and comforted. She took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by her family.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Joe Ray; daughters, Challana Dean and her husband, Dino and Kiffney Stewart and her husband, John; grandchildren, Jada Dean, Cole Willett, and Brooklyn Willett; great grandson, Huxley Rhett; brothers, Mike Gates and wife, Libby, Terry Smith and wife, Cindy, and Paul Gates and wife, Diane; sister, Paula Smith; sister-in-law, Betty Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Gates, Cody Smith, Hunter Bailey, Terry Adkins, Blake Adkins, Brock Adkins, Michael Wallace, and Timmy Whitehead.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Earl Bennett, David Foote, Charles Simpson, Steve Bearden and John Day.

Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
