Luke Lane Moses

Luke Lane Moses, our sweet precious angel, took his own life February 3, 2023 in Baton Rouge.  He had just turned 19. Born January 9, 2004, to Amy Smith Moses and David Moses, he was the younger brother of Chandler.

“Sweet” is the word used most when the people who knew him described Luke. He was every parent’s dream, as nearly perfect as a child could be.  He loved being at home with his parents and big brother and spending time with Honey and Gigi. He was intelligent and wise beyond his years, and he made us laugh every day with his great sense of humor and impish grin. One cousin said, “Luke could warm your heart with that grin that just exuded goodness.”

He graduated from Jesus the Good Shepherd Elementary School and Neville High before enrolling in Baton Rouge Community College. The Christian youth group, Young Life, was a special part of his life. He loved spending time with his big brother, running his cousins here or there in his jeep, or hanging out in “Rustvegas” with the friends he cherished, and working out at the MAC.  He loved all animals, especially his cat “Big Boy.”

It makes us happy to know that Luke brought so much laughter and joy to so many in his short life.  Perhaps his heart and soul were too much for this physical world, and he is now entertaining the angels.

In addition to his parents and brother,  he is survived by his grandparents, Dale and James F. (Freddy) Moses (Honey and Gigi to Luke); uncle, Tyler Moses (Kelsey); aunts, Kala Brooks (Kelly) and Amber Moses; special cousins, Amanda Barkley Kennedy, and  Rikki Rowe (Tiffany); cousins Randi Auger (Sean), Benji Rowe (Ricci),  Peyton, Preston, and Dawson Moses; Tori, Aubri, Lexi and Ryleigh Rowe; Bre, Bear, and Hasten Auger;  a number of great aunts and uncles; and a host of cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Patsy Philley Smith and uncles, Timmy Smith and Jack Moses They all had a special place in their hearts for Luke.
