Bernard was born November 10, 1942, in Bunkie, LA, and passed away on August 6, 2024 in Winnsboro, LA at Plantation Manor Nursing Home. He grew up in Evergreen, LA and was a member of the Church of the Little Flower in Evergreen, LA for many years. Bernard graduated in 1969 from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He went to work for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development until his retirement. His hobbies were raising Devon cattle and sports. He traveled to many college and professional football games and baseball games around the country with family, both in and out of state, and enjoyed seeing the various stadiums. Bernard loved politics and even ran for office later in life. He really cherished his Catholic faith and even planned his travels to be sure he was near a Catholic church on Sundays. He especially loved calling his children and grandchildren every Sunday to verify their attendance at church. They would be required to have the priest sign the bulletin to prove their attendance. Later on, he moved to Franklin Parish and made his home in Crowville, LA with Susan, his wife of 16 years. He became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Winnsboro, LA. Bernard and Susan traveled together to see their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many other sights. He loved traveling to Las Vegas and was able to celebrate his 70th birthday there with his family. He loved dining out, especially at fine steakhouses. Bernard loved tractors and tools and always gave the children and grandchildren rides on his equipment. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be sorely missed by all.
