Mr. Bishop was born on May 16, 1947, in Delhi, Louisiana and passed away on January 10, 2026, in Russellville, Alabama.
Luther Allen Bishop, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, entered his eternal rest and now walks the streets of gold with those who have gone before him. His life was a testament to perseverance, loyalty, and a heart that never hesitated to help others.
Allen was born in Delhi, Louisiana, and spent most of his childhood in Tallulah, where he formed the roots of the character that would define him throughout his life. It was there, in high school, that he met the love of his life, Dixie. Their bond was immediate and enduring, and they married in August of 1965, beginning a partnership marked by unwavering devotion and shared strength.
Just weeks after their wedding, Allen suffered a tragic work-related accident over Labor Day weekend. Through a long and difficult recovery, Dixie remained faithfully by his side. Together, they faced adversity with courage and grace, emerging stronger and more united. After his recovery, they moved to Monroe, where Allen attended Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana at Monroe), studying Marketing and Business Management while building a foundation for the life they dreamed of together.
Allen and Dixie were blessed with two children, Allen Jr. and Tiffaney, who became the joy and pride of their lives. As a father, Allen was steady, encouraging, and deeply devoted. As a grandfather, he was gentle, playful, and endlessly proud.
Allen began his professional journey with Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company before embarking on a long and successful career with Philip Morris, USA. Over the years, he excelled as a Sales Representative, Area Manager, Division Manager, and Strategic Account Manager. His work ethic, leadership, and ability to connect with people earned him respect across the industry. He spent much of his career in Texas and ultimately retired as a District Manager in San Antonio.
Never one to sit still when there was good to be done, Allen began a second career as a Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster with Eberles Contracting Services of Colorado. His compassion and steady presence brought comfort to families facing hardship. He was later promoted to Site Manager of the State Farm CCSD Office in Dallas, where he continued to serve others with integrity and dedication.
After retiring a second time, Allen and Dixie settled in Russellville, Alabama. There, he embraced the simple joys of life like gardening, hunting, and tending to his beloved tree farm in Northwest Alabama. The land brought him peace, purpose, and a place to reflect on a life well lived.
Allen was a mentor to many and a servant to all. He was the kind of man who would drop everything to help someone in need, offering his time, his hands, and his heart without hesitation. His kindness was steady, his loyalty unwavering, and his love for his family immeasurable.
Above all, Allen was a God-fearing believer in Jesus Christ. His faith guided him, sustained him, and shaped the way he loved and served others. Those who knew him take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, healed and whole, rejoicing in the presence of his Savior.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Atkins Bishop; and mother, Myrtis Odell Bishop.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dixie Belle Bishop; son, Luther Allen Bishop, Jr, (Debbie); daughter, Tiffaney Bishop Stubblefield (Ben); grandchildren, Joshua Allen Bishop (ShyAnn), Elizabeth Annabelle Bishop, Charlotte Reed Stubblefield, Griffin Atkins Stubblefield, and Logan Allen Stubblefield; sister, Judy Storey (Lum); brother, Henry Bishop (Donna); as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Luther Allen Bishop, Jr., Joshua Allen Bishop, Henry Bishop, Ben Stubblefield, Griffin Atkins Stubblefield, and Logan Allen Stubblefield.
Luther Allen Bishop, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, humility, and faith. His memory will live on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the countless acts of quiet generosity that defined his days.
Until we meet again…
