Margie Christine "Chris" Hobbs

September 11, 1929 — April 17, 2026

West Monroe, LA.

Margie Christine “Chris” Fallin Hobbs, a longtime resident of the Monroe area, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the age of 96. Born in Delhi, Louisiana, in 1929, Christine witnessed nearly a century of history, though her greatest treasures were always her faith and her family. Her family finds great comfort in knowing that she is now present with the Lord Jesus Christ.

A gifted cook, Christine’s kitchen served as the very heart of her home. She took pride in hosting every holiday, ensuring that family traditions continued and that no one ever left her table hungry. She’s remembered for making many delicious dishes, but none were more frequently requested than her signature "Pink Salad”. Between the sounds of her favorite gospel tunes playing in the background, she served as the family’s unofficial historian. Though she was rarely the subject of her photos, which she proudly displayed across her house, she was always present behind the lens, her trusty compact camera in hand, carefully capturing the memories of every gathering and ensuring to pen the date to the back of each photo for future reference. Christine had a remarkable gift for keeping track of family lineage and stayed deeply invested in the lives of those she loved. Her home stood as a place of comfort and connection, a true testament to her lifelong devotion to her family and friends.

Christine is now reunited in Heaven with her husband, Rufus H. Hobbs, and her parents, Luther and Illa Fallin. Her memory will be carried forward by her children, Larry (Lorna Gail) Hobbs, Jerry (Pam) Hobbs, and Shirley (Steve) Brooks, along with her four grandchildren, Rebecca (Jesse) Barnett, Caroline (Brad) Ervin, Kyle Brooks, and Zach (Emily) Hobbs, and special grandson, Jacob Hatten, and her great grandchildren, Gracie and Joel Barnett, Elanor and West Ervin, and Olivia Hobbs.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during a graveside service at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Eros, Louisiana. The service will be under the care of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15)
