Ann Battaglia

A funeral mass for Marian Ann Battaglia, 93, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Monroe, LA, with Rev. John Paul Crispin officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. 

Marian Ann Battaglia was born in Monroe, LA, to a large, loving and lively Italian farming family – the 12th of 13 children. She grew up on the farm, where she helped with all aspects of the Battaglia family enterprise. She worked side-by-side with her sisters in the kitchen and became a most excellent cook of Italian and Southern dishes. Her well-loved and highly sought after recipes have been shared by family and friends, far and wide. Ann also worked in various retail positions over the years.

She never married or had children of her own. The central focus of Ann’s life was her cherished family.

Miss Battaglia was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Joseph Battaglia and Rosa Lalumia Battaglia; siblings, Lena Battaglia Grasso, Shirley Battaglia Palone, Sarah Battaglia Cicero, Sam Battaglia, Josephine Battaglia Tamburo, Mike Battaglia, Joe Battaglia, Laura Battaglia Paris, Angelo Battaglia, Rose Battaglia Burdine, and Katie Battaglia Fontana.

Survivors include her brother, John Battaglia; niece, Loretta Battaglia whom she helped raise; grand-nephew, Reginald Fontana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Pete Battaglia, Brad Creel, Custer Fontana, Gary Fontana, Austin George, and Gerald Tamburo.

The visitation will be held at 5:00 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, followed by vigil from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
