Marilyn Agnes Meredith

Marilyn Meredith died peacefully on December 30, 2023. She was born on September 17, 1936 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Murry and Agnes Field. Marilyn was the first born of three sisters. As a young girl, she liked to sing and dance with her sisters, Anita and June. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge and earned a degree from Louisiana State University. At the Catholic Newman Center, she met her husband Harvey Meredith and together they had two children, Greg and Alison. The family lived in St Paul, Minnesota until Marilyn became mentally ill and was no longer able to care for her children. She eventually lived with her parents in Baton Rouge until her mother’s death. At that time her sister, June, selflessly took over caring for Marilyn. June moved Marilyn to Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation (Formerly Golden Doors) in Winnsboro and the two sisters enjoyed over 30 years of living near one another. Marilyn enjoyed the many activities at the facility especially the bingo games and religious activities.

One constant throughout her life was her close relationship with Jesus and her love for her children. Her faith was everything to her and got her through many of her life’s challenges. She also never had a shortage of letters or prayers for her children. Marilyn will be remembered for her Godly character qualities of contentment and joy despite her circumstances.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Murray and Agnes, and sisters Anita Ligi and June Conway. She is survived by son, Greg (Kim) Meredith of St Louis Park, Minnesota and daughter, Alison (Mitch) Neubert of Waco, Texas, six grandchildren (Jacob, Emily, Rachel, Alissa, Bethany and Matthew), six great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Joseph (Joann) Ligi; and three nieces and two nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation for years of outstanding care and for the love shown to our family during this difficult time. We would also like to thank Elara Caring Hospice Care. A special thanks to Carmen Kramer from St. Mary's Catholic Church who faithfully brought communion to Marilyn weekly for many years.
