Martha Jane McCurdy

Martha “Marty” Jane Wellerman McCurdy , born April 12, 1938, in West Monroe, LA went

home to be with her Lord on June 23, 2025 at the age of 87.

Marty, a devoted daughter and wife, loving mother, and amazing grandmother, was truly the heart of her family. Her home was a haven of endless love and unwavering support, extending even to the many children she welcomed in as her own. Marty's gentle spirit and kind heart left a mark on everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, kindness, and devotion.

Marty retired from a career as a Ouachita Parish school bus driver and cattle rancher.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father, W.E. “Bill” Wellerman; mother, Anna Lois Saxon Wellerman; brother, William “Gary” Wellerman; and her husband, O.K. “Junior” McCurdy.

Marty was a proud founding member of the Northeast Louisiana High School Rodeo Association and Cowboy Church at the O.K. Corral, President of the Ouachita Parish Cowbells, and a Quarter horse breeder. She loved antiquing and thrifting. One of her absolute favorite pastimes was going to auctions. Marty loved to spend time traveling with her cousins and friends. Her grandchildren will always remember the joy she showed when they spent time together with her on the mountain. She loved to tell them stories

about all the things she and Junior accomplished; she loved to tell them all about her auction findings and tell them the history of the many lives that came before them.

Marty embodied kindness, always making time for everyone who crossed her path, from family and friends to those she welcomed into her heart and home as "adopted" children. In recent years, she spoke often of love, a true testament to the legacy that she leaves behind. If there was a word to define Marty McCurdy, it would be Love.

Her memory will be forever cherished, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
