Matthew Clay Zizzi

Matthew Clay Zizzi “Clay” was born on June 28, 2001 to Dr. Henry C. “Trey” Zizzi, III and Deborah Green Zizzi of West Monroe, Louisiana. Clay passed away on March 6th, 2023.  Clay grew up in West Monroe and graduated from West Monroe High School in 2020.

Anyone who met Clay knew of his inherently good nature, warm spirit, reserved personality, but positive attitude. From an early age, Clay exhibited remarkable intellect and excelled in academia his entire life. He embodied the heart of a lion with tremendous courage in every endeavor. The friendships he made throughout his life were genuine and real. The bond he shared with his friends was unlike any other. As the baby brother of two siblings, he was such an important part of his family as the final piece they always needed. He had the best sense of humor and a love for all things TV & movies; but most of all, he had an incredible affinity for music. Clay has been singing for as long as anyone can remember and he then took on the challenge of learning piano and guitar. He really blossomed in his musical abilities throughout high school and college and he performed for intimate crowds as well as for hundreds of people. We as a community were lucky enough to hear him sing and play as much as we did;  his beautiful voice was truly unforgettable. Clay was a one of a kind a person and if you knew him, you loved him forever. Although he had so many songs left to sing, Clay’s heavenly voice will now have to carry on forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Henry “Hank” and Sandra Zizzi and his maternal grandfather, Stanley Green.

He is survived by his parents  Dr. Henry C. “Trey” Zizzi, III and Deborah Green Zizzi; his siblings Hannah Zizzi, Evan Zizzi, Haley Peterson (Rob), and Tyler Zizzi; his grandparents Linda and Bob Ellig, Barbara White and John White; his aunts & uncles, Larry Green (Marla), Zach Green (Jaclyn), Chris White (Kim), Mary Catherine Jones (Will), Anna Beth Reid (Cole), Todd Zizzi (Shea), Stanton Zizzi (Bridgit); his cousins Kristina Green, Mary Kathryn Wilkerson (Roland), Luke Green (Catherine), Landon Green (Madison), Julianna Green, and Jude Green, and numerous extended family members.

The honorary pallbearers are The Knights of the Long Table, Drew Dollar, Chaz Trichel, Lucas Norris, Adam Arnold, and Brice Wolleson.

In lieu of flowers, the Zizzi family requests that any donations in honor of Clay be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
